Arkady (Macbeth equivalent: Lady Macbeth)

Physical: Age: ? Ht: 5'2 Wt: 100 lbs. Red hair, green eyes. No distinguishing marks.

Affiliation: Oversees the multinational company Trilogy, which she overtook from her father. Literally controls everything in the City, from police to industry.

Likes: Umber, being in control, roses, large profit margins.

Dislikes: Grant, the Underground and Edge 102, betrayal, rumors about her and Umber, Emilia (Owly's mother), Owly.

History:
When Arkady was 19 she was kidnapped and held as a hostage by a group of overly ambitious political activists. Arkady's father, although he was by day a legitimate business man, had a large part in the ongoing drug trade within the City, something the kidnappers hoped to derail by bringing attention to. However, all demands by the kidnappers were rejected and a week long standoff against them resulted, during which Arkady was repeatedly threatened and physically abused. The standoff ended abruptly when
Umber intervened, confronting the kidnappers and killing all but one, who Arkady herself had killed (reportedly the kidnapper had attempted to rape her).
The kidnapping had a profound effect on the young Arkady; formerly a dutiful (and miserable) daughter, she viciously rebelled against her father in the following years, and is rumoredly responsible for his death.
She and Umber were secretly married a few years after her kidnapping. Their relationship is what Grant calls "the worst kept secret in the City."

Personality: Occasionally paranoid and reactionary, Arkady is nevertheless very human, given to bouts of desperation and depression. Her much rumored illness affected both her mind as well as her body, and in the last few years she teetered on the brink of derangement. She loves Umber almost unhealthily and combined with her obsessive need for control (both in her life and over those she cares about) she possesses a personality ripe for disaster.

Notes: Although Arkady is the villain, I've always wanted her to be more human than most villains tend to be... so I funneled a lot of my own frustration and hurt over broken relationships into her character. After all, who can honestly say they never wanted to hurt back those who had hurt them? She acts on this... but goes much farther than any sane human would (one hopes).
